At the Battle of Normandy 2026 Final in France, Toby, Nathan and David won the HHH Elite Division. Tessa finished 9th in the Women Elite, and Aafke and the team of Hanne, Nele and Inez also took to the floor.

The Battle of Normandy Throwdown is one of the biggest competitions in France, organised by CrossFit Caen. The final took place from 10 to 12 July 2026 in the indoor athletics hall Michel d'Ornano in Mondeville, just outside Caen, with more than a thousand athletes. The first event was held outdoors on Friday: a one mile run with a weight vest on the beach of Merville-Franceville, on the historic coast of Normandy.

Toby Slager, Nathan Ansems and David Scharff had a rock-solid weekend in the HHH Elite Division, with four event wins and nine top 5 finishes. They won Event 4 (a relay with handstand walk, farmer walk and D-ball carry), Event 5 (an AMRAP with bike, row, synchro box jump overs, partner deadlifts and synchro bar muscle-ups), Event 6 (for load: squat clean and front squat complexes) and Event 7B (five rounds of worm deadlifts and synchro shuttle runs). In the final, with worm thrusters, burpees over the worm and worm walking lunges, they stood firmly on the podium with a 2nd place. With 919 points they took the overall win. Well deserved.

Tessa took a fine 9th place in the Women Elite Division. She started strong with a 2nd place in Event 1, the beach run with vest, and showed throughout the competition that she belongs at this level. Along the way came a handstand push-up workout, a long machine and sled workout, legless rope climbs with D-ball carries, a for load complex of clean, front squat and jerk, and an AMRAP with chest to bar and bar muscle-ups. She closed the final (15-12-9 shoulder to overhead and burpees, followed by front rack walking lunges) with a 7th place.

Hanne de Croock, Nele de Bruyn and Inez van de Winkel competed for CrossFit Endgame in the Team FFF RX Division and finished 9th overall. They started quietly with a 17th and 14th place in the first two events, but built towards a weekend that only got better: 4th in Event 4, 2nd in Event 7A, 6th in Event 8 and a 3rd place in the final. 717 points, three top 5 finishes and a podium place in the final.

Aafke competed with Mathijs and David in the Team Elite HHF Division. The team finished in 31st place with 365 points. There were certainly strong moments: a 12th place in Event 6, the for load event, with 347.5 kg and a 15th place in Event 3 were the highlights of the weekend.

Congratulations to Toby, Nathan, David, Tessa, Hanne, Nele, Inez and Aafke on their results at the Battle of Normandy 2026 Final.
